Please help if you can. RHV do amazing work and every cent goes directly to helping their horses. This is the organisation I got my Kutch through. They are truly dedicated to their horse’s welfare and always go above and beyond, unlike the racing industry.
Run For Raffin aka Raffman
This boy was loved throughout his lengthy racing career. He was a consistent performer around country racetracks in Victoria and NSW. Well cared for during his career and retired sound at around 10yrs of age.
He contributed a percentage of his prize money to the Victorian Welfare Program. When through no malicious intent he required help due to his welfare, you would think Racing Victoria would be there with bells on, using his prize money he contributed to ensure his safety and rehabilitation.
Those in racing are literally all laughing right now. Not because of raffmans condition as that is the one thing no one wants to see happen to one of their horses, but because they all know the last people that are going to help a thoroughbred in need is the Racing Victoria Welfare Program.
Raffman is at Rehoming Horses Victoria where their admin and members are funding his rehabilitation and care. Racing Victoria have contributed not 1 cent towards him though they are fully aware.
Members of racing are fed up with having funds taken from their horses earnings for welfare, yet none of it being spent on welfare. Unfortunately they also know members have zero say in where their money goes and if they speak up they will be hit with the terms "cease and desist" and/or " bringing racing into disrepute". These terms usually come with a fine or suspension or and day out with the stewards at flemington.
Rescue are also sick of their misuse of funds, as whilst they sit on their big fat pile of money, we are begging for funds to do their job. Enough is enough. We don't mind rehabilitating horses it's kind of what rescue is, but RV need to be covering the costs of it.
It's time everyone stands up and says not good enough.
